RCDS Leadership Retreat

During the summer of 2014, the newly formed Ryerson Communication and Design Society (RCDS) organized a team building retreat for all student groups and course unions within the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD). One of the goals of the retreat was to meet student leaders in other FCAD programs in order to encourage collaboration between their different skills and knowledge backgrounds.

The retreat included many fun team-building activities such as high ropes courses, rock climbing, and other camp activities like s’mores around a bonfire. In addition to the entertainment aspect of the retreat, it served as an excellent learning opportunity.  Attendees were educated about the different aspects leading and running a successful student group, and how to better serve their student population.

Three of RyeTAGA’s executives attended the event. Jessica Klein, RyeTAGA co-president, really enjoyed the retreat saying, “It was a great bonding opportunity and I think all who attended would agree.”  A big thanks goes to RCDS for this amazing event; RyeTAGA has benefited greatly!

  1. Team building activities are frequently held in service oriented professions like restaurants and doctors' offices. The focus of some corporate team building activities involves taking the customer's perspective and learning how to maintain a consistent front for all customers.
